Nigeria
For the first time in Africa, Color Me Rad was hosted in Nigeria with numerous participants from all over the world.
Color Me Rad is based on the Hindu festival of colours known as Holi. The festive colours used are a sign of winter’s end and spring’s new beginnings.
The spectacular race saw runners drenched in bright paint as they competed in a five Kilometer race on Sunday in Lagos, Nigeria.
In this race you start out as clean as a newborn baby, and throughout the run, volunteers coat the runners with liquid, powders, and gels of different colours.
Each section of the run adds a new explosion of colour to the runners.
“They poured sand colour on me while I was running. It is very interesting. I did not expect it,” said Angela, participant.
“We are having fun, I am exercising and meeting people. It is great, I love it,” added Rotimi, another participant.
